I didn't know why? When I went to ez pass office there were multitudes of people all with the same type of complaint. He came over to me after about 20 minutes and gave me a slip of paper advising me I needed to go to the ez pass office and address low balance issue. He was so rude, I thought, Oh my God what is going on. I recently went through the BBT - low balance light came on and I was approached by a obnixious TA employee who said give me your e-z pass and pull over. Note - I have no gotten any money back or spoken to anyone who could even come close to caring. This company is shameful and should be audited and return the excessive fines its stolen from the government's constituents immediately. It would be helpful if you could actually speak to someone in Albany, however they conveniently only accept written correspondence. This organization is legalized robbery and after spending hours and hours on the phone and sending faxes, I am furious. EzPass strives to provide " word class customer service" as per their website and is failing miserably. The attitude is off the charts for these unhelpful representatives. Every time I speak to a customer care rep they give different direction and when I follow that direction, nothing happens and I have to call back only to receive more attitude about what I am doing wrong.

I've called to reconcile and get credit for the illegitimate and sneaky fees totaling over $150 that were taken from my bank account. I've had several issues with EZpass NY as of late.

I live on Grand Island, NY (have to pay tolls to go home). I have invested hours of time by phone, fax, and mail, to resolve a simple matter without any just response. I have found their responses unethical and unreasonable. Furthermore, they charged me a $25 retained Tag fee for the MTA officer's act and then another $25 fee for ‘a balance’ consisting of the amount I was waiting to be refunded and the disputed Tag fee, resulting in $50 of fines. To date, they still have not credited my account the extra $11 I paid in cash for the toll (though I sent them a receipt and explanation in January, verified by phone). I have been contacting EZPass for 8 months since and have received nothing but frustration and fines. At the time, my pass was valid as the toll processed and the light said "low balance, call EZ Pass." However, the officer did not tell me that the toll went through with my pass, and collected an $11 cash fee from me as well.įurthermore, he held my car against ongoing traffic for 20minutes without explanation or safety precautions.

My EZ Pass Tag was confiscated by a MTA officer by reaching into my car and taking my EZ Pass, which later I learned was in violation of their code and my rights. I wanted to share my experience with EZ Pass NY and the MTA that may be of use to others in the future.
